The Colour Mixing Guide.

This little guide is quite a simple one to help open you up to the world of mayhems Dye. All mayhems dyes have been made to be mixed it realy is that simple. By combining 2 or 3 colours or even more if you wish you can create some real nice vibrant colours.

First we will show you a few simple things that you should all know from school but like many have probably forgotten.

There are 3 Primary colours you should always remember and these are

  • RED
  • YELLOW
  • BLUE

Now these 3 colours are the only colours that cannot be made by mixing two other colours. So we call them the primary colours.

Now you know that we have 3 Primary colours well the same goes for the UV part of the colours again we have 3 UV colours that we will call that 3 UV Primary colours and these are

  • UV Clear Blue
  • UV Yellow / Green
  • UV Pink

There is no such thing as a real UV red and i have been trying to find a real UV red for a very long time and never have found it yet.

So let’s start with the basics first looking at this colour wheel and starting from the centre circle you can see the 3 base primary colours of red, yellow and blue.

Now if you look at the second wheel we can see what happens when you take a equal mix of let’s say yellow and Red. You can see it then gives you Orange. Now you can have varying degrease of orange deepening on how much yellow and red you mix.

So now looking at the above picture you can now have a basic idea of standard colours you can mix. Now this is where things go up to the next level. When mixing UV colours it  changes a little as not only do u have to contend with The fact that most of the base UV colours have a secondary colour involved such as UV yellow Green but also that some do not such as UV Clear Blue. But in some way this is where we can start to get some really wired and wonderful colours. But in its self it’s a double edge sword as well as these wired and wonderful colours we can all so end up with some god dammed awful colours to. But let’s start with some very basic mixes that people know and love so much.

UV Blue / Blue

This is probably one of the easiest colours to make it really is simple in the face we only use 2 colours and these are

  • UV Clear Blue
  • Blue

All we do is take 1 drop of Blue and 1 drop of clear blue and we can see now once you have finished we have a UV Blue / Blue. Meaning that under UV light it is Blue and in normal light it is normal Blue.

UV Green / Green

Now this is a little harder to do as with the base mix of colours we have to deal with UV Yellow / Green and Dark Blue.

  • UV Yellow / Green
  • Dark Blue

Now Dark Blue is a very strong colour so the thing to do is water that down a little. The best way of doing this is below.

  • get some Deionised water and put 1 drop of dark blue into a Test tube of glass  (or glass beaker) and then add 30 drops of Deionised water into it. (1)
  • Now Simply add 3 to 4 drops of UV Yellow / Green and see it change colour to UV Green / Green. (2)
  • Now add to you water cooling system to get the effect (3)
  • Add more for a darker colour UV Green / Green (4)
